Steel City Jug Slammers is a modern jug band performing Pre- WWII and original material. The band was started by Ramblin' Ricky Tate and Jerrod Atkins with Maxwell Honeycup backing them on washtub bass. Shortly after the band was joined by Corey Medders and Steven Bate while Maxwell was replaced by Washtub Jay as a main stay wash tub bass player. Maxwell later rejoined on jug, being replaced for a period of time by Tadpole. The current line up of the band is Ramblin' Ricky Tate, Washtub Jay, and Maxwell Honeycup. Since forming, the band has toured all over America preserving an authentic jug band sound. After being featured two years in a row at the National Jug Band Jubilee the band went on to become the Minneapolis Jug Band Champions. Featured on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, Animal Planet's Pitbulls and Parolees, Jerry Springer's Podcast and several documentary films, the Jug Slammers continue the tradition of Jug Band Ruckus.
