Noah Lewis's recording sessions were always bookended by sessions with his more famous bandmate, Gus Cannon. But Lewis demonstrated his unique talent with his first two solo recordings, the instrumentals "Chickasaw Special" and "Devil In the Woodpile," and put together one of the most star-studded lineups ever with Noah Lewis's Jug Band: John Estes on guitar, Yank Rachel on mandolin and Ham Lewis on jug.
