"R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders" (CSS) are a loosely organized string band playing songs from the 1920s and (occasionally) modern songs styled after the songs of the 20s. They recorded three albums in the 70s and occasionally are active today, though usually without Mr. Crumb who lives in France.

Since there is no choice for some of the instruments they play, Bob Brozman plays lap style and bottleneck resophonic guitar and ukulele, Bob Armstrong also plays saw and Terry Zwigoff plays saw, cello and Stroh fiddle.

Bob Brozman is one of, if not THE, leading experts on resophonic instruments in the world.
R.Crumb, of course, is better known as an underground cartoonist than a musician.
