Memphis Minnie, AKA Lizzie Douglas, was a shining star in the male dominated blues music scene before World War II, both as a singer and as a guitar instrumentalist. She recorded a few tracks backed by the Memphis Jug Band, including a version of her hit "Bumble Bee Blues," and probably performed with Jed Davenport's Beale Street Jug Band along with her husband, Kansas Joe McCoy (she seems to be the person shouting "yeah, uh huh" in each verse of "Save Me Some").
